Issue # 216 - February 2017

This year has been busy so far, and we hope you are off to a great start! This month we want to wish all of you a very happy Chinese New Year - and a very happy Valentine's Day! To celebrate, we want to know what school you love. You also have the chance to meet with schools virtually in the CollegeWeekLive Fair and ask your immigration questions to our guest advisor Jane from Plymouth State University.

Best wishes,
The International Student Team

Study in the Sunshine State!

The land of sunshine, white sandy beaches and orange groves is also known as Florida. It鈥檚 a state that has become a top destination and home to some of the country's best and affordable colleges! With its numerous amount of theme parks and entertaining cities (Hello Miami and Orlando), there鈥檚 never a dull moment between classes in Florida. Come see why Florida is a top study destination!

How are you feeling?

Life as an international student is fun, but it鈥檚 not easy. The continuous stress of classes, making new friends, and worrying about funds can take a toll on your mental health. Since taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health, make sure you watch this video for more information on how to stay in tip-top shape.

What Questions Do You Have?

Our advisor for February is Jane Bjerklie-Barry from Plymouth State University. In addition to being an international student advisor, Jane advises students on immigration matters, directs international student orientation programs and is co-chair of International Education Week. Jane is excited to help answer your questions this month!

Ready or Not: It's Almost Tax Time

It鈥檚 almost that time of the year! If you鈥檙e an international student inside the US you must file your tax return before April 18th. Filing your tax return is very important in order for you to stay legal under your visa, even if you didn鈥檛 earn any money in the US. If you need help starting the process, visit our tax section!
